Lovely Ebonized Wooden Music Box in very good working order. Switzerland, XIX Century

This great music box, with simple and sober lines and elegant presence, is a very ancient piece that was manufactured in Switzerland in the 19th century. The box is in very good condition, and its fine look is accompanied by an excellent working order with an excellent sound (see and listen video). Its mechanism is able to play four delicate melodies, having been revised and fine-tuned and boasting a very good condition. The mechanism is complete and preserves the original metal with not a single tooth missing. The solid wood the box is made of shows off a wonderful black finish that imitates the deep dark color of the ebony. This finish has a satin glow that enhances the piece; it has been thoroughly restored for the best look. The box also preserves the original hinges and two shutting hooks attached to the front side. If we lift the top lid we will see the mechanism that plays the tunes, protected by a glass pane with a lacquered wooden frame. The glass pane can be lifted in order to reach the mechanism. This is composed of a brass cylinder with a spiky surface, with the silvery metal comb in front of it. When the cylinder turns, the spikes touch the combs teeth and the musical notes are generated. The mechanism preserves all its original pieces and gears, providing a beautiful sound that accompanies this antique boxs stylish design perfectly.
