Beautiful Swiss Music Box. 6 tunes. Century. XIX

Great antique music box that comes from Switzerland and was made in the late 19th century.The box is completely restored and is in an excellent state. The motor has been cleaned and fine-tuned and works perfectly, providing a clear and charming sound. The box preserves the original lock and key and can play five complete tunes. One point of the comb is missing but this detail does not interfere at all in the amazing working order of this attractive item. The box is made of solid wood, probably light golden mahogany. The inner edges are lacquered in black. This black finish, shiny and deep, also covers the lids edge and the boxs inside surfaces. The top of the lid is covered with a beautiful dark brown wooden sheet with fine black veneer. In the center we can see a delicate inlaid detail depicting a nice flowery bouquet made of different kinds of lightwood. The wood has been dyed to enhance the details look; the marquetry work is complete and original. The wood is outside protected by a great French-polish finish. Inside the music box we can see the mechanic motor protected by a glass lid. The glass pane is the original one and is very well preserved. The lid is attached to the box by hinges and can be lifted to discover the roll, the comb and the motors component parts. The music box also contains an antique booklet with two paper pages and petit-point embroidered covers. The booklets edges are adorned with shiny embroidered trimming details. Inside we can read the tunes titles written by hand in an elegant calligraphy. Measurements: Width: 14.3 in / 36 cm. Height: 4.7 in / 12 cm.
