The case is in very good condition, although it has some marks of the passage of time, which do not detract from the beauty of the piece. The machinery is in perfect condition, works without problems, and it attaches four discs to be able to listen to music from day one. The music boxes as an object in itself, can be said to have its birth in the eighteenth century, but not consolidated as object to listen to music until the nineteenth century. They arise from an important and well-known Swiss industry that would start making watches, but later would develop the first music boxes from which different and innovative pieces would be made all over the world. This example was developed in Germany based on the Poliphon model. It is a mechanical instrument that basically consists of a box in which a comb of metal sheets is driven by pins that rotate independently in a cylinder, and which are moved by notches or tabs previously marked on the lower base of a metal disc. In the first specimens the system of turning the disc was manual and was made by means of a crank, but later the rope was incorporated, activated by a key that allowed a regularity in the execution. Precious collector's item with which to listen to music in a very original way.
