Gorgeous antique small-sized music box, a charming piece more than one hundred years old. The box is in good condition and working order: it can play four complete tunes. It was made in Germany in the late 19th century (circa 1880) and has a great decorative potential. The metal comb is complete and keeps all its teeth, while the pin drum also preserves all the pins that play the notes. The box itself is made of solid oak wood, with a lovely golden-brown color a deep veneer. Inside it is painted black and so are the edges of the box and the cover. At the top of the cover there is a fine mother-of-pearl medal embedded in the wood, framed by a romantic metal oval piece crowned by three flowers. The mother-of-pearl piece is in wonderful condition; its bright white color makes a fine contrast with the texture of the wood. The box stands on four small metal legs and preserves the original key. In order to operate it, the key must be inserted in a hole drilled at the boxs base. Inside the box bears a deep shiny black finish, also in great condition. Stack to the cover there is a paper sheet with the handwritten German titles of the tunes. On the other hand, the music movement is in great working order and keeps all its original component parts and pieces; the silvery metal comb bears a mark with the inscription F. GALLARD. The rest of the parts are made of golden brass. The great attractive of this gorgeous music box lies in its delicate making and good working order. It can be a very special gift for any lover of romantic antiques. Measurements (Open): Width: 5.1 in / 13 cm. Height: 4.3 in / 11 cm.
