Imposing antique coin-operated organ in very good condition and great working order. The organ is more than one hundred years old and was made in England in the early 19th century; it is a very remarkable piece for its beautiful design and great sound. The organ is operated by coins: in order to play a tune, the user must introduce an old-time English penny into the slot. The instrument comes with a bag full of pennies that make it possible to start it and enjoy its charming old-fashioned sound. Both the wooden case and the inner mechanism have been fully restored and tuned, so today the organ is in perfect aesthetic and use condition. The organ can play 48 string notes which create a sum of 10000 songs. Once the coin has been introduced in the slot, the instrument is activated and plays a tune twice in a row. When finished, the coin falls and the organ stops. These instruments substituted pianists in popular pubs and taverns, and became quite popular pieces. In fact, at the top of this organ we can see an old-style engraving depicting some customers in a pub, drinking pints of beer and happily singing to the music. At the front of the organ we can see the manufacturers name, KEITH PROWSE & CO. Ltd., printed in clear golden lettering. It also indicates the factorys address, located in London W. The organ is made of solid wood and combines the mahogany wooden color with a fine ebony-like finish. It boasts a classic-popular style and bears a fine decoration with moldings, hand-engraved motives and panels. At the back of the organ we can see the serial number 92575 clearly engraved in one of the wooden pieces. For its remarkable presence and great sound, this evocative antique organ is bound to be the starring piece in a room with character. Measurements: Width: 39.5 in / 100.5 cm. Height: 78.8 in / 185 cm.
