This attractive piece is a professional optical trial lens set made in England in the 19th century. It consists of a nice wooden box with a wide array of trial lenses with different magnifying numbers, mounted in their corresponding metal frames. The lenses are stored in grooves and are classified by their kind and prescription. The set is almost complete and the pieces are in excellent condition, being all original from the time. The case is divided in five compartments. At the top we can see three white plates with the name of each kind of lenses: SPHERICAL CONCAVE, CYLINDRICAL CONCAVE, CILINDRICAL CONVEX y SPHERICAL CONVEX. Each compartment also has a plate with the magnifying numbers, in perfectly legible black lettering. In the center of the box there is a place for dyed lenses, designed for sunglasses. In this set there are two pieces missing but the set still keeps a total of thirty-three lenses. The clear-glass lens set is practically complete except for one of the pieces, the one corresponding to the number 0.50. All the lenses are framed by a chromed-metal ring with a flap in which we can read the magnifying number. The case where the lenses are stored in is big in size and undeniably beautiful: it is made of solid mahogany wood, with great dovetail joints and a brass plate embedded in the center of the lid. It also keeps the original lock and key in perfect working order. This amazing optical trial lens set will be the best find for a professional optician who can appreciate the most beautiful antiques.
