Antique Opera Lady's Binoculars. France, S. XIX

Gorgeous antique ladies opera lorgnette or binoculars made of brass and covered of natural mother-of-pearl plates. The lorgnette comes from France and is dated in the 19th century, remaining in great working order. The lenses show some dust particles but the vision is equally clear. There are two mother-of-pearl plates missing (located inside the casing of the lenses) but they can be easily replaced. The white-bakelite eyepieces bear the engraved manufacturers name: LEMAIRE FI PARIS. The brass is visible in some parts; its beautiful golden color creates a lovely contrasting effect with the white mother-of-pearl. The metal component parts are in good condition, with the gorgeous patina that the trace of time deposits on the metal.
