Antique Mantel Telescope with Case. Late XIX Century

Gorgeous antique desktop telescope, as attractive and decorative as functional. This is an original piece made in the late 19th century, in excellent condition and good working order. The telescope is fully made of brass and so is the foldable tripod that comes with it. The tripod makes it possible to put the telescope on a desktop or tabletop so it can be easily used or exhibited. The inner lenses are well preserved, just like the rack-and-pinion focus system. These features enable the user to operate the device and use it to watch faraway objects and landscape with surprising accuracy and sharpness. The telescope also keeps the original brass lid that protects the lens when not in use. The storing case is made of solid mahogany wood and remains in good condition; the brass handle and fastening hooks are original and are well preserved too.
