Antique Taylor compass more than one century old, made in 1918 and used during World War I. As well as being an authentic, original and extremely beautiful piece, the compass is in great working order and comes in its delicate storing case. If we open the front cap, inside we will see the inscription U.S.C.E. (United States Corps of Engineers) clearly engraved in the metal surface. This inscription indicates the army corps the owner of the compass belonged to. This fine piece has a brass casing, quite similar to the popular pocket watches of those times. The brass looks even and shiny, remaining in good condition except for some slight signs of wear. The dial and the glass protecting panel are very well preserved too; the dial bears black indications, red central point and a metal hand with painted ends. The Taylor brand name is printed in the center. The storing case is a small box with a dark-red outside leather covering and a mauve velvet lining inside. The leather is in good condition with just some slight signs of wear at the corners. The brass hinges and fastener are original too and remain in working order. Every lover of war and historic antiques will recognize a real find in this wonderful US Army compass, a great piece that has survived the most important contents of the 20th century.
