Rare Folding Stereoscope in its Original Case. France, 1910

Striking antique wooden and metal stereoscope, in very good condition and perfect working order. This is a foldable model, quite rare and made in France in 1910. The stereoscope comes in its original storing case, also in very good condition too. It makes it possible to view variable-width plates, from 13 to 18 cm. The plate stage has not top stop, so the stereoscope enables the user to view many different plate sizes. It is a really versatile design. The casing is composed of several black-painted wooden pieces connected by metal hinges. The eyepieces are mounted on the front piece; they include a mechanical system (made of silvery metal) which makes it possible to adjust them and the metal plate stage. All the component parts are in good condition. The wooden pieces preserve the original black paint, only slightly worn at the edges and the corners. The metal look shiny and polished, with no relevant rust or wear signs. All the stereoscopes component parts and pieces are original from the time. The lenses are in really good condition, clean and neat, which enables the user to view all the plates perfectly. The stereoscope comes in its original storing case, a sober box covered by black leather outside that is also in good condition.
