Outstanding antique Owens Owens Marine Sextant in excellent condition, made in Liverpool, England in 1830. This instrument is entirely original from the time; it is more than 150 years old and comes in its original mahogany wooden case. The sextant is complete and preserves all its component parts and accessories: the color filters and adjusting screws are in fine working order. The bottom graduated arc is made of silvery metal (the rest of the sextant is made of brass) bears the hand-engraved manufacturers name and city: Owens Owens, South Castle Street, Liverpool. What is more, inside the case there is an original ancient paper sticker which guarantees that the sextant was adjusted by an optician and nautical instrument maker, J. STEVENSON. The label shows some handwritten inscriptions too. The storing case is a great mahogany wooden box; it is shaped like the sextant and mounts inner compartments for the eyepieces. Though the wood shows clear signs of the trace of time, thanks to them it has acquired a fine patina that provides the sextant with charm and personality. Perfect to become part of a great nautical instrument collection, this antique Owens Owens marine sextant exudes a very special charm.
