Beautiful antique English brass sextant by T. Hemsley & Son, made in London, England in the 19th century. This instrument comes in its original solid-oak wooden box and is accompanied by three viewers and a ship compass for cartographic use. It is entirely made of brass; the metal looks shiny, even and as gorgeous as the first day of use. At the alidade we can see a hand-engraved inscription with the manufacturers name: T. Hemsley & Son, Tower Hill London. The mirrors are original and so are the colored-glass solar filters. All these component parts remain in great condition, so the sextant is currently in good working order. The storing case is a fine-looking piece to: the wood boasts a great reddish-brown color and a deep veneer, typical of oak wood. The artisanal dovetail joints provide the design with sturdiness and attractive; the box is the perfect container to keep this amazing sextant in perfect condition for at least one hundred years more. As authentic as gorgeous, this antique English sextant signed by T. Hemsley & Son is a real collectors piece in an amazing condition.
