Small and delicate case containing three brass magnifiers of different shapes, used for numismatics and precision tasks. The magnifiers are stored in a nice antique case, maybe not the original one but surely dating from the same time. The set is a very charming and original item that has survived to our days in very good condition. The magnifiers show three different sizes and has intact glasses; the brass frames are also well preserved. The hinges that connect the metal pieces and let the user fold and unfold them are perfectly functional. The brass boasts a nice old patina created by the trace of time and use that provides the magnifiers with a very special charm and genuine character. This kind of magnifiers or lenses are normally used to view small details, especially in numismatics or philately, where it is necessary to watch closely the coins and stamps to get information or verify their authenticity. They are also used in canvas restoration and serigraphy, where they are usually known as linen testers. The case to store the magnifier set is lined with black faux leather. The lid bears the following inscription in golden gothic lettering: NEUJAHR 1881 (New Year 1881 in German). Probably the case was not intended to preserve the magnifiers but is surely perfect for this task. Inside the case is covered by rich satin in two colors: cream white for the lid and bright blue for the box. This numismatic magnifier set has stood the test for time and survived to our days in excellent condition. It is undoubtedly a charming and functional item that any lover of special vintage pieces will love to own.
