Antique Large 42 in. Marine Spyglass. Circa 1850

Antique 42-in-long marine spyglass in fine condition, made circa 1850 and of a great decorative power. Optics are clear and in good conditions. This is an original piece which was once used as an essential navigation tool. The telescope is composed of five brass bodies; the metal is well preserved and shows the fine patina provided by the trace of time, a feature which turns it into an authentic and very special piece. The twisted black-leather covering which protects the main body is also original, remaining in good condition too. The optics are clear and provide a high magnification, making it possible to use the telescope to watch faraway landscapes. It is also an amazing decorative piece which will provide any room with charm and status, being also a great acquisition for a collection of marine antiques.
