This amazing French set of cutlery is a real antique. It was made of silver-plated metal in the early 20th century (circa 1900) and boasts a very beautiful and smart design. The set is for twelve people and no original piece is missing. The utensils are all very well preserved and their handles boast a nice engraved decoration that turns this set into a highly stylish item. All the pieces bear marks and stamps. For example, the delicate thongs bear two marks that indicate the material this set of cutlery is made of and the country where it was made, FRANCE. The spoons have different marks: one bears the initials M.B. and the other shows number 24. The forks also bear the M.B. mark, but in this case the engraved number is 40. Last but not least, the knives blades show an oval mark with the French words ANTROUILLE DÉPOSÉ engraved in them. The utensils are all adorned with a fine romantic decoration. The metal is engraved by hand with vegetal motives that frame the handles and open creating flowers and leaves. The forks and spoons boast a nice design in the middle of their handles, depicting two crossed stems with a wavy ribbon in front of them and a tambourine. The rest of the utensils are engraved with vegetal and floral designs, with a concrete motive for each group. The set of cutlery comes into six cases: five of them contain the utensils by groups (knives, dessert knives, etc.) and the sixth one is an individual case for the thongs. They are all black and covered inside with bright orange satin. This striking hand-engraved set of cutlery is bound to keep on decorating the most aristocratic tables. It is an exclusive piece worthy of the smartest home.
