This discreet and smart piece of furniture is a very original piece, made in England in the early 20th century (circa 1900). It is a small auxiliary article designed to hide and use a porcelain chamber pot, a delicate hand-decorated piece. The piece of furniture is made of beautiful solid mahogany wood and has survived to our days in striking condition, having been fully restored so it can boast the woods nice dark reddish color just like when it was originally manufactured. The set is original and very decorative, making up a highly attractive item.The wooden container is rectangular and compact, made up of milled wooden longitudinal pieces and beveled panels of the same material. The flame-shaped mahoganys veneer shines in all its shades and shows off its huge beauty. The satin finish that protects the surface enhances the color and good look of this noble specie. The whole container stands on four solid turned legs. At the front we can see a detachable step that can be drawn in order to comfortably use it.The piece of furniture is closed by a hinged lid that let the user lift it in order to reach the inside. There rests the chamber pot, protected by another hinged top with a circular hole in the center. The porcelain piece is lovely, with a smooth white surface decorated with yellow and blue hand-painted flowers. This decoration is quite delicate and reveals the hand of a skilful artist. The chamber pot bears a stamp at its base.This original piece of furniture and the fine porcelain pot that comes with it show off the style typical of English furniture from the early 1900s.
