This striking article, very decorative and undoubtedly stylish, is an oak wooden writing case made in England in 1900. These pieces of furniture are small auxiliary items designed to be put on the desks. They have different compartments where the user can organize bond paper, envelopes and other writing utensils. The piece that we can see in these images is made of solid wood and is in very good condition. It keeps the original lock and key, both in perfect working order. The small case is made of different solid oak wooden planks, with a deep brownish tone and fine irregular veneer. The front lid that closes the case is decorated with two nice inlaid details: a rectangular slim frame and a central rosette, both made of light yellowish wood. If we open this lid and lift the top lid too, we will see the scaled compartments where the writing articles can be stored. The case comes with no accessories, except for the glass inkpot with cork stopper that is part of the set.The woods surface keeps its original French polish, both inside and outside. The finish has been cleaned and restored so nowadays looks as beautiful as when the writing case was originally manufactured. The vertical planks that organize the case have their top edges milled in the shape of a lobed V: this detail is surely decorative but also functional, letting the user reach the paper and envelopes easily. The front plank has two metal plates screwed to the wood, designed to fix notes or labels. This English writing cases smartness and functional quality turn it into a perfect accessory for the most stylish study.Measurements (open): Depth: 360 mm/14.1 in.
