Wonderful signal lamp for train station master use, made in Germany in 1942. This means that it was used in Germany during World War II, when the Nazi government ruled over the country. This turns it into a real museum piece. The lamp is in good condition and is operates on kerosene; probably it can be used as in yesteryear. The lamps frame is made of metal sheet and is covered by a protecting black finish that provides it with a sober and regular look.Inside the lamp is made of shiny chromed metal whose surface reflects the light emitted by the kerosene flame and enhances its intensity. We can see the original lamp composed of a brass base and a glass cylinder. The front part of the lamp is closed by a circular transparent door connected to the frame by a hinge. The doors frame has a groove designed to let the screen in: in this case, the lamp comes with a red screen used to stop the trains. The red glass is the original one and is in quite good condition. The lamp keeps the original component parts that can be easily manipulated: the hinges, the screes, the handle, the locks At the back we can see an interesting engraved inscription composed of embossed letters: 1942 METALWARENFABRIK (German for metalware factory). All these features turn this lamp into a very decorative item with all the charm of real historic pieces. It can even be turned into a conventional lamp just by putting a bulb with an electric wire into the lamp. This lamps historic relevance as a witness for World War II troubled times joins its attractive look to make up an exclusive piece.Measurements: Width: 11 in/28 cm.
