Huge handmade wooden model of the German Battleship Bismark. Mid-twentieth century. It consists of a beautiful hull in maroon and light gray as the original, decorated with a wooden side plate indicating the name of the ship: BISMARK. This fantastic model is made of wood and metal, and enjoys a considerable size, at 1:200 scale. On deck we find all the pieces that we could find in the famous German warship; boats, guns, metal ladders, optical firing systems, airplanes, etc ... The aesthetic lines accused the influence of the Scharnhorst, both in the hull and superstructures with the large tower mast and the single chimney. The catapult, located behind the large smokestack, is fixed and arranged transversely. The armament on this ship had its strong point in the 8 Krupp pieces of 380 mm and 47 calibers in length grouped in four staggered double turrets, two at the bow and two at the stern, as can be seen from the photographs. It has some minor damage in areas such as an aircraft propeller or an aileron, but they do not detract from the beauty of this historic piece. Attached homemade lighting that runs along the deck, we think it is battery operated, although it has not been tested. The battleship Bismarck was the most famous German warship of World War II. She was a sister ship to the Tirpitz and had very special aesthetic and historical characteristics. The BISMARCK class battleships (BISMARCK and TIRPITZ) were the cornerstone on which Hitler intended to build his gigantic Plan Z. A plan that was to give Germany naval superiority over Britain in 1945. It was named after German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. At the time of her launching, the BISMARCK was the largest battleship in the world, as well as the fastest, and while she did not have the largest guns, she did have the most modern guns, and was the best armored battleship to date. However, this magnificent ship was sunk on May 27, 1941, after fighting an epic naval battle against the best ships of the British Navy during the Battle of the Atlantic in World War II. Unfortunately, this had been the first operation entrusted to the German battleship. Her reign was very short, but she left an indelible mark in History.Beautiful model of a ship that left an indelible mark in History.Measures: 31,5 x 125 cm.
