Striking post scale made in Germany in 1920. The first thing that draws our attention is the excellent condition that boasts the piece. The golden brass the balance is made of is polished and shiny, with no traces of rust or flaws. The device keeps all its original component parts, including the complete set of weighs that can be stored in their respective compartments, drilled in the solid wooden base. The base is also very appealing: it is made of beech wood and has been slightly darkened with a walnut dye that makes a great contrast with the shiny brass. The horizontal beam in whose ends rest the plates bears two engraved inscriptions: WESTA W.-GERMANY. This words stand for the manufacturers name, Westa, and its location in Western Germany. The beam is composed of two longitudinal brass pieces connected with brass rods that create a solid and wide piece. This piece oscillates on a double stand, decoratively shaped; one of its sides supports the black metal pointer. As for the plates, one of them boasts the classic shape (similar to a saucer) and is designed to put the weighs on. The other one is a squared plate with rounded corners bound to put on the letters and envelopes in order to be weighed. As stated before, the scale comes with a set of eight cylindrical brass weighs with their corresponding number of grams engraved in the metal. The wooden base also has a small drawer to store accessories, paper, pens and other practical tools needed for different office tasks. This amazing post scale is a real collectors piece, as beautiful as precise, full of charm and perfect to decorate a lovely corner. Measurements: Width: 7.6 in/19.5 cm. Height: 5.7 in/14.5 cm.
