Very rare and spectacular bandleader baton made of hand-carved bone and with ebony pointer. This is a very decorative and state-of-art piece made in France in the 19th century. In spite of being more than one hundred years old, the baton has survived to our days in very good condition and shows off a great beauty. The naturalist-style bone piece is decorated with delicately carved vegetal motives that provide it with unique beauty and personality. The baton is cylindrical and very stylish. Its anterior end is oval in shape and boasts a flat and soft surface. The cylindrical part has a flat surface except for the places where it is embellished with carvings. This decoration is equally distributed all over the piece and the carvings are of the same length. The firs decorated part shows a fine motive of leaves that embrace the baton; under them we can see small wavy lines that provide the surface with texture. The following decorated part boasts a similar design, but the leaves are differently distributed. The last part is just the same but shows bigger leaves that cover a wider surface. The batons final end is decorated with a delicate hand-engraved relief that imitates a closed flower, composed of symmetrical and schematic elements. The ebony pointer is connected to this place and the noble wood makes a wonderful contrast with the white baton ivory.Any lover of rare antiques will find a unique piece in this baton, a wonderful object with great decorative power and undeniable personality.
