Fine postal scale made of polished brass with solid oak wooden base and complete weigh set. This scale was made in Germany in the 1930s and has survived to our days in excellent condition. The brass is polished and shiny with no trace of rust or bumps, while the solid wood also boasts a quite attractive look. Both materials make a nice contrast and create a beautiful balance, making up an elegant item that is still fully functional. The oak wooden base shows off a nice wavy shape, with an elegant-shaped milled edge. It is made with a thick solid wood plank that stands out because of its gorgeous golden color and fine deep veneer. At the front of the base we can see a series of blind holes in different sizes drilled in the wood so they can store the set of weighs. The weighs are also made of brass and all of them bear their respective weigh in grams engraved in the metal. The heaviest one weighs 50 grams, and the lightest 1 gram. The scale stands on the wooden base and is attached to it through its central piece, which is composed of two symmetrical brass stands. The stands boast a nice wavy a complicated shape. Their bottom is attached to the base and their top hold a horizontal rod on top of which the scale balances. The piece is quite stable and is reinforced by some screws and plates that guarantee a perfect operation. The front horizontal arm bears an engraved inscription that reads W.- GERMANY and speaks of the country where the scale was manufactured. Its simple beauty and good working order will make this scale shine in any collection of antique industrial instruments. Measurements: Width: 8.2 in/21 cm. Height: 4.3 in/11 cm.
