This fine shop scale is a decorative and original item made by the brand Librasco in England during the first quarter of the 20th century. The scale is in good condition and works perfectly. The black-enameled cast-iron body is drilled to store a set of weights with their corresponding weigh in ounces. The scale is sold and reliable, and can be used to weigh food and other products just like the first day of use. The piece stands on a cast-iron base, rectangular in shape and quite thick; it is quite heavy in order to provide the mechanism with stability. From this iron base the body of the scale emerges to create another base that supports the mobile arm. The golden brass pans stand at both ends of the arm. The left one is the sample pan and is designed to contain the products: it is bigger and has an irregular edge (so the user can pour products such as beans, sugar, etc.). The right one is the weights pan, smaller and circular in shape. It is designed for the user to put the weights on. In the center of the scale we can see the pointer, also made of golden brass. Under the arm there are two engraved inscriptions: LIBRA SCALE CO and ENGLAND, corresponding to the manufacturers name and place. At the front there is another inscription that reads LIBRASCO MADE IN ENGLAND, printed in elegant silvery lettering. Last but not least, the set of weights is in good condition and each piece bears its weight engraved in the metal and painted in white. The scale has two handles, one at each side of the base, designed to carry it comfortably. With its solid design and proven reliability, this fine scale will be the best decorative detail for a country kitchen or a cozy living room. Measurements: Width: 14.5 in/37 cm. Height:9 in/ 23 cm.
