This great golden brass helmet is an antique piece that has survived to our days in amazingly good condition. This is a collectors item, a piece worthy of a history or anthropology museum. It is a firefighter helmet made of golden polished brass, model 1895 (the year of manufacturing) and coming from Paris. The helmet is in optimal condition: the brass looks shiny and flat, with no dents or scratches. As well as being a really interesting article, it is also a very decorativeAt the front we can see a complex engraving that decorates a great part of the metal surface. It depicts the Paris city coat of arms with all its symbols: the sailboat on a wavy sea, the crenellated tower, the fleur-de-lis and the laurel wreath. As usual, the coat of arms is accompanied by the citys motto: FLUCTUAT NEC MERGITUR, a Latin sentence that means beaten by the waves but not sunken. In the beginning, this coat of arms belonged to the Corporation of the Seine Boatmen, a powerful guild that with the trace of time became a municipal institution.The helmets decoration is in excellent condition: the embossed motives and the inscriptions are clearly visible. At the back of the helmet, engraved in the visor we can see a series of marks that identify this article: the inscription BTE S.G.D.G., an oval mark and the numbers 100 (the fourth digit is slightly worn) and 6413. Inside remains the adjusting leather piece, used to fit the head into the helmet in a comfortable and secure way. The item also preserves the original fastening strap, made of black leather and connected to two links located at each sides of the helmet. This firefighter helmet is a collectors piece, very original and undeniably beautiful. Its impressive presence will draw anyones attention.
