Beautiful solid wooden writing slope designed to fine document and letters on the desk. This antique piece was made in France circa 1879 (Napoleon 3rd era) and is in very good condition. The slope has been carefully restored to boast a very attractive look. It preserves all its original parts and accessories, and also the original lock and key in working order. This small cabinet is made of solid wood with a fine deep black color and decorated with a delicate inlaid detail. The slopes front side is actually a foldable piece. It is made of wood with a golden brass inlaid frame and a central motive made of the same metal. This central motive depicts an aristocratic cup and is in good condition, just like the brass thread that frames it. The top of the writing slope contains the lock and boasts a similar brass frame that maintains the decorative style of the design. The outside surface bears a French-polish finish with traditional lacquer that enhances the color of the wood. If we open the lock and lower the cover, we will reach the inside of the cabinet. The space is divided by three slim wooden planks vertically disposed. The compartments make it possible to organize documents and letters in perfect order and clearly visible. Inside the front is covered of green velvet; this lining is in excellent condition. The writing slope also contains four delicate glass inkpots with metal lids, all of them original from the time. As beautiful as discreet, this lovely antique writing slope will keep on performing its duty on the classiest desk. Measurements: Width: 9.4 in / 24 cm. Height: 5.9 in / 15 cm.
