Spectacular and big antique jewel cabinet made of solid wood and decorated with Boulle-style marquetry. This impressive piece comes from France and was manufactured in the 19th century. It is in amazing condition: the finish has been carefully restored so nowadays the jewel case shines with elegance and delicacy. The front locks are the originals and so is the key to operate them. The jewel cases structure is made of ebony wood, decorated with brass inlaid frames that embellish the front and top sides. The cover boasts a stunning marquetry decoration made of different materials. The general design is made of golden brass, combined with turquoise, mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell details. This color mixture creates a gorgeous and elegant motive. Boulle marquetry takes its name from André-Charles Boulle, an artist and artisan that worked in the first half of the 18th century and developed the marquetry technique including new materials like the ones present in this cabinet. Boulle-style cabinets and boxes are really beautiful and coveted. If outside this case looks wonderful, inside it is equally beautiful. The covers inner side is lined by padded bright red satin. The box is divided in small compartments covered of the same material and very well preserved. At the front we can see an ample drawer covered in brown velvet. The different compartments provide a great organizing space to store articles and pieces in perfect order, under lock and key. Its great capacity and undeniable beauty turn this Boulle jewel cabinet into an exceptional piece, worthy of the most attractive boudoir. Measurements: Width: 13.7 in / 35 cm. Height: 9.4 in / 10 cm.
