This fine desk cabinet is an antique cigar humidor, made of veneered wood and exceptionally beautiful. It comes from France, where it was made circa 1870. The humidor is made of solid wood, decorated with blur wood veneer and inlaid motives that create a nice combination of colors, materials and textures. Inside it contains several grooved trays designed to store the cigars in perfect order. The blur veneer that covers all the cabinets sides boasts an awesome combination of colors and shapes, standing out for its great bright reddish brown color. The original French-polish finish has been preserved and restored, so this humidor boasts now a bright warm glow that embellishes and protects the wood. The humidors corners, legs and edges are painted black: this detail enhances the pieces decorative beauty and provides it with depth. The top cover is probably the most appealing part of the humidor. It has an ample black frame with golden lines that surrounds the blur veneer background. In the center there is an inlaid golden brass detail embellished with mother-of-pearl and dark wood pieces. Inside the cabinet we can see the grooved trays stated before, disposed in layers so they can be easily removed. In order to reach them, when the cover is opened the cabinets front side lowers. All the wooden pieces bear a nice French-polish finish and look shiny and good. This marquetry-decorated humidor is a real jewel for any lover of good cigars and of special and classy pieces.
