This lovely piece is an ebony-finished wooden perfume chest containing three delicate Vieux-Paris porcelain bottles, two of them are perfume bottles and the third is a powder box. It is a gorgeous antique, made in France in the 19th century. The chest is made of hand-carved solid wood with a fine black satin finish. The cover is decorated with a Boulle-style marquetry motive with golden brass, tortoiseshell and turquoise pieces. The set is in amazing condition, with no flaws or missing parts, and its romantic beauty remains intact.The wooden chest that contains the perfume bottles is rectangular in shape and stands on four small legs. The covers decorative detail is quite remarkable, a complex marquetry motive made of different materials: brass, turquoise, mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell. This type of decoration was developed by André-Charles Boulle, an artisan and cabinetmaker who worked for the king Louis XIV in the 17th and 18th centuries. Boulle became immensely famous for his cabinets, covered by marquetry details made with several plates of different materials, the most important being brass and tortoiseshell.Inside the chest is covered by salmon-colored silk, original from the time and with no torn parts. It contains the three lovely white porcelain bottles, in great condition too. They are made of Vieux Paris porcelain, also known as porcelain of Paris. This porcelain is pure white and extremely glossy, decorated by hand and with many goldes details. These bottles are beautifully painted, with fruits on the lids and fine golden motives at the bodies.This stunning antique perfume chest will be the starring piece of a stately and stylish boudoir.Measurements: Width: 9.4 in / 24 cm.
