Gorgeous box for storing gloves in wonderful condition, more than one hundred years old and boasting an undeniable charm. The box shows off a fine black-lacquered finish and inside it is covered by a padded-upholstery lining made of bright red silk. Both materials are in great condition and create an elegant and stylish combination. The boxs front side can be folded out and is attached to it by two hinges. The front side, just like the rest of the box, is covered by red silk inside and has two silk rings attached to the lining. These rings were probably bound to hold some accessory, probably a tool designed to put the gloves fingers in the right position after taking them off. The padded upholstery is greatly preserved, just like the rest of the luxurious red silk. The external lacquer is also in good condition; the cover and the front side are decorated with slim brass strips that make up rectangles. The cover has a center inlaid brass piece with two hand-engraved initials (E and J). The lock and the key are the originals and remain in working order. Perfect to be used as a toiletry or as a little jeweler, decorative and nostalgic: this stunning box for storing gloves is an exclusive and classy piece. Measurements: Width: 11.6 in / 29.5 cm.
