Fine calamine inkstand made with high attention to detail, a piece with great decorative power. This is an antique article made in the late 19th century. The inkstand is in very good condition and displays a sculptural and naturalistic style, being the perfect accessory to adorn a classy desk. Though it is well preserved one of the two inkpots is missing, but it can be easily substituted. Otherwise the inkstand is complete, with no broken or missing parts. The article has a base with a front tray designed to put the pen on. The most relevant part is surely the central sculpture, a figure depicting a hunting dog in a rural background. The animal stands on a rocky ground and puts its front legs on a fence with two crossbars. The dog is realistically performed and we can see every muscle of its body under the skin. It also shows a fierce expression. Around the bottom crossbar there is a slim chain. On both sides of the scene we can see an inkpot. These two pieces are decorated with a lot of volutes, in a baroque-inspired naturalistic style. Both have lids connected to the pots by hinges. The inkpots and the sculpture stand on a wide modernist base, decorated with the classic asymmetrical volutes simulating sea waves. These volutes extend to create the slim legs that support the inkstand. This beautiful inkstand will undoubtedly stand out as it deserves when located on the desk of a classy study.Measurements: Width: 23 cm/9 in. Alto: 26 cm/10.2 in.
