Amazing writing set with two inkpots, antique and decorated with a naturalist-style hunting scene. This piece was made in France in the early 20th century (circa 1900). It is made of calamine and is especially remarkable because of its sculptural quality. This article is beautifully made and has a great decorative look and an imposing presence. The set has two containers with lid that hide two white ceramic inkpots. Both have hinged lids. All the parts that make up this set are in very good condition and the piece boasts a striking look, just as if time had not gone by over it.The writing set has a wide base that supports the two inkpots and the mentioned hunting scene. The style is strongly naturalistic: the base imitates a natural ground with rocks and plants, and the containers for the inkpots emerge from it as if they were natural elements. One of the lids shows a flat surface simulating a cut trees stump, while the other is irregular and imitates a rock. Both containers are surrounded by embossed motives depicting plants. In front of the inkpots and the narrow tray for the pens we can see an embossed motive depicting a group of hunting arms. The sculpture that stands out in this writing set depicts a hunting scene with two dogs fighting with a deer. One of the dogs is threatening the deer and stands in front of it, while the other is attacking it. The scene is highly realistic and the animals look alive and moving, with their fur, muscles and expressions perfectly reflected. The group stands on a rocky-shaped platform with an irregular and realistic finish. The writing set stands on three legs: a front volute-shaped leg and two more in the shape of tree branches. This amazing sculptural writing set is a piece that breathes art. Quality-made and quite old, it will be a real find for any lover of antiques.Measurements: Width: 290 mm/11.4 in. Height: 160 mm/6.2 in.
