Beautiful desk in wood and metal sconces, made in the nineteenth century. It consists of decorative metal sconces on the top. The front part is decorated with a beautiful tri-lobed shield, in the center of which stands out a knight wearing a helmet, carrying a sword and a triangular shield in his right hand, and a standard in the left. A beautiful decoration based on lobed forms, scrolls and vegetal palmettes run all around the shield in a very harmonious way. All the decoration is delicately graded with dotted and grated forms, which denote the mastery of the craftsman who carried them out. In the four corners of the front, four vegetal appliqués matching the center make this piece a true marvel. The metal keyhole, located at the back, is also decorated with vegetal forms. By opening the top cover, thanks to a double hinge, the flat base on which to write, in yellow velvet, unfolds. On the upper part are distributed different compartments of different sizes for inkwells, pens and blotting paper. There is also a vertical structure with slots at different heights, which allows to place papers or letters in an orderly manner. Attached is a small glass inkwell with a metal lid, as well as the original key, making this desk a true collector's item. It is as beautiful open as closed and is without a doubt a very decorative piece.Measures: 29 x 35 x 10 cms.
