Antique and sober ship writing case made of mahogany wood and with polished brass reinforcements. This lovely piece was made in 1870 and keeps the original lock. There is also a key, but it is not the original one. The mahogany wood has a beautiful deep reddish color, characteristic of this kind of wood. As it is usual with shipping furniture and objects, the case has screwed brass reinforcements in the corners. On each side there is a removable handle, also made of brass. When open, the case shows a worktop made of leather, with a beautiful embossed design all around it. The leather is golden yellow and, even being slightly worn, is still a beautiful handcrafted work. The writing desk still has the original varnish, in good condition. The inside cover can be opened to discover a big compartment, designed to keep paper and envelopes. The case has several compartments for pens, inks and writing material. The one for the pen is painted in black; this compartment and the one beside it have curious knobs with a spiral design. The case has also a side drawer, with its own removable handle. The original lock shows the inscription E. TURNER and a logo (repeated three times) engraved in the metal. Undoubtedly, this writing case is a magnificent piece which will make any lover or antique shipping objects happy.
