Big American barmounted corkscrew made in 1913. This is a great vintage piece, highly decorative and functional, in excellent condition and that can be used like the first day. This corkscrew is Yankee 7 model, its name being engraved vertically on both sides of the articles body. It is made of nickel-plated cast iron and is in good condition. The metal shows some signs of the trace of time, logical if we consider that this is a piece with years of use behind. Yankee 7model was a U.S. patent by Raymond Gilchrist, Freeport, Illinois. It is significantly different from its predecessor, number 6, because it works in a completely opposite manner: to unscrew the bottles the user has to put the bottle in its place, put down the lever and put it up again. The corks can be put again into the bottles neck, carrying out the same reverse operation. This corkscrew is a very attractive piece, being its whole surface decorated with vegetal motives engraved in the metal. Both sides show an embossed design with a branch with leaves and flowers on a dotted background. The bottom levers are intended to hold the bottles neck and the clamps show a similar decoration, while the handles bear a mesh design. The device can be clamped to a bar or a table with a system similar to that of vises. The metal has stood the test of time successfully though it shows some slight signs of wear which provide the piece with even more charm and authenticity. The gear has a wooden ball-shaped handle whose black-lacquer finish is also somewhat worn. Nevertheless, this is easy to recover by a professional restorer. We can say that this corkscrew is a fully original piece, which works wonderfully and will be the perfect accessory to the most elegant bar. Measurements: 160 mm width x 360 mm height.
