Fine ornamental triptych made in the 19th century, antique and decorative. This piece is made of wood and covered with bone plates, fully engraved by hand with hunting scenes performed with great attention to detail. The triptych is in good condition and only shows three small flaws, two at the central piece and one at the left-hand piece. Nevertheless, the articles beauty and ancient age are not affected by these details, especially if we take in consideration that it is a hand-made object more than one hundred years old. The three parts that make up the triptych are made of solid glued pinewood strips. We can see the strips if we look at the back side of the piece, perfectly protected and embellished by a mahogany-color finish. But the part that turns this triptych into a fascinating artisanal piece is its front side; as stated before, the wood is covered by slim rectangular bone plates, vertically disposed and all of the same size. The plates stand out for the amazing engraving and inking work that show so they make up a beautiful decorative piece. The central piece, wider that the side ones, bears the most important engraved motive. The scene shows a mounted hunter chasing a deer and a roe deer with a lance in his hand. At the animals feet we can see two dogs, and in the background there is another mounted hunter. The left plank shows another hunter and the right one is decorated with an engraving depicting a deer and a dog. The scenes are framed by fine decorative volutes that create a gorgeous set. The engravings have been colored with black ink in order to provide the triptych with definition and depth; today, it is still a singularly delicate and charming decorative object. Every lover of hunting-art-related antiques will appreciate the beauty and quality of this antique hand-engraved triptych. Measurements: Width: 22 cm / 58 cm. Height: 7.2 in / 18.5 cm.
