Fine antique demountable pipe in its original case, made for the Exposition Universelle of Paris in which took place in 1900. The pipe comes in a lovely and evocative case; inside, the case bears a printed inscription that testifies for the place and year this pipe was made in. The piece can be dismantled in two parts: the stummel on one side and the stem with the mouthpiece on the other. The stem with the mouthpiece can be used as a The storing case is antique and is made of emerald-green-leather-covered wood. The covering is slightly worn though almost complete. Nevertheless, the most remarkable part is the inside covering: a silky fabric with a colorful Parisian landscape printed on a white background. The landscape bears the following inscription: EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE DE 1900 LE PONT ALEXANDRE III, indicating that the pipe was manufactured to commemorate the world fair that took place in Paris in the early 20th century. The landscape is obviously inspired in a watercolor and is perfectly preserved. The box is covered by a padded white cloth where the two parts can be easily stored. The pipe is made of solid wood and chrome-plated metal; the wood is embellished with a fine reddish-brown marbled motive. The mouthpiece is made of amber-colored transparent bakelite. All the component parts and pieces are in good condition and preserve the great charm of turn-of-the-century items, just like the case where it comes in.
