Amazing antique writing slope made of solid walnut and oak wood and with a complex marquetry decoration on top. The writing slope comes from France and it is dated circa 1900, remaining in great condition though being such an antique piece. It has been fully restored and preserves all its original parts, looking as sturdy, beautiful and functional as when it was originally made. The slopes bearing structure is made of walnut wood of lovely golden brown color, with the top edges decorated with fine hand-carved filigree motives. The wood is protected and embellished with a gorgeous French-polish finish, original from the period and fully restored to regain its warm and deep glow. The writing slopes back part is separated in different compartments to store writing material, two of them with lids. The foldable top used to write on it is a beautiful piece: the wood has been decorated with a striking marquetry decoration composed of abstract motives of straight design. The marquetry combines different types of wood that create symmetrical shapes and fringes full of style and elegance. When we unfold the top of the writing slope, inside we discover a fine red leather mat with a golden fringe. The mat is beautifully preserved. There are also three small drawers with more space to store writing materials. Furthermore, if we fold the back piece of the writing surface (by pulling the black ribbon) over the front piece we will find a big compartment to store documents and paper. The same happens if we fold the front piece over the back one. The writing slope preserves the original lock and key in working order. This antique writing slope hides a thousand histories, letters and adventures that turn it into a charming and attractive piece. Measurements: Width: 17.7 in / 45.5 cm. Height: 7 in /18 cm.
