Antique Book Binding Press. Early 20th Century

Nostalgic antique book-binding press made of cast iron and in very good condition. The press dates from the early 20th century and is an amazing example of the great manually-operated machines used for binding in those days. The machines design is sober and functional; the press can still be used to bind books the traditional way. These presses were used to keep the groups of paper sheets together so their edges could be cut to the millimeter. This way, books were perfectly balanced. They also were used to prevent curling while gluing the covers. The press boasts a solid and attractive look, being both a functional and decorative piece.
