Eye-catching antique candlestick set entirely made of bronze, combining ormolu and patina-finished bronze and in very good condition. They come from France and are dated in the 19th century so they are more than one hundred years old. The candlesticks stand out for their sober elegance they are Empire-style pieces, a decorative-art style belonging to the neoclassical school that was all the rage in European decorative arts during the 19th century. Each candlestick is composed of a column-shaft-shaped stem made of patina-finished bronze, supported by an ormolu base with embossed decoration. Each base has three legs that sit on a thick triangular plate made of patina-finished bronze. The ormolu top of the candlestick is decorated like the base, full of fine moldings and patterns in relief. The contrast between the glow and the decoration of the ormolu parts and the sober patina-finished bronze creates a fine, timeless and attractive design. These two candlesticks are perfect to decorate a big dining table or a classy sideboard. Their stately beauty will remain unaltered for many years. Measurements: 12.40 in / 31.5 cm.
