Amazing antique candlestick set made of ormolu and patina-finished bronze, in very good condition and with a remarkable decorative power. The candlesticks were made in France in the 19th century and are more than one hundred years old, having preserved their elegant look through many decades. They are Empire-style pieces; the Empire Style is a decorative-art current inscribed in the Neoclassic style that was in all rage in Europe during the 19th century (after the proclamation of the First French Empire in 1804). Each candlestick has a stylized stem that looks like a column shaft, made of patina-finished bronze. The stem is supported by a three-legged ormolu base with a fine embossed decoration; the legs stand on thick and simple patina-finished-bronze triangular piece. At the top, an ormolu candle holder with leave-shaped decorative motifs and moldings crowns each piece. The alternation of ormolu and patina-finished bronze parts creates a gorgeous contrast in these French candlesticks, so stylish and with a clear stately look. These antique Empire-style candlesticks will shine on a mantelpiece, a great dining table or a classy sideboard. Measurements: Height: 12.40 in / 31.5 cm.
