Awesome antique mahogany-wooden bird cage completely carved and lathed by hand and in impeccable condition. The bird cage is dated in the 1930s and remains complete: there is not one wooden part, metal spike or door missing. The birdcage seems to have been used just as a decorative item, with no birds; this might be the reason why it is so incredibly well preserved. This singular piece is composed of two parts: a base with legs and the bird cage itself. The base is a beautiful light-colored mahogany table, with hand-shaped legs and wooden reinforcements at the bottom. The legs bear fine hand-carved floral motives at the top. The place where the wooden reinforcements come together is adorned by a small wooden pinnacle that matches the decoration of the birdcage. The striking bird cage stands on the tabletop. It shows off a wonderful byzantine-inspired architectural design. It looks like a palace with a dome, a renaissance doorway and fine pinnacles all over the roof. It mounts four doors and includes a removable tray designed to clean the cage more easily. The carved wooden details are really outstanding: the lovely pinnacles, the domes, the capitals and the tiles engraved on the wooden roof are the finishing touch of this remarkable antique. This great antique birdcage, gorgeous and big in size, will shine in the most visible corner of a great dining room or sunroom. Measurements: Width: 54 cm. Height: 165 cm. Depth: 54 cm.
