Antique pair of cobalt blue bohemian glass decanters with intaglio ornaments. First half of the 20th century. The bottles are hand made and hand carved. The hand carvings have a sharper feel and a much more stylized look than the pressed glass imitations. In addition, each of the stoppers fits only in its respective bottle. That is, the glass is blown and no mold has been used. The stopper is the original and each one of these decanters has its own stopper that fits only and exclusively in its bottle. They cannot be interchanged. It can also be observed that the decoration, although similar, is slightly different, which indicates that each of these decanters was treated individually and manually by an artisan carver. Also, in the last photo, the slight irregularities in the decoration can be seen. The bottle was completely cobalt blue from head to toe before carving. First the glass was blown and then a layer of blue color was applied. Finally it was the craftsman who gave it the final appearance, carving and polishing it. The mouths of the decanters are made of solid silver of 916 purity (first law) and are signed N. Garvi. They measure 37 cms of height including the stopper.
