Fine antique wooden violin case with an old-time arch to play the instrument and in very good condition. The case is really ancient and is dated in the 19th century, just like the arch. Though it is in quite good condition, one of the front metal suitcase fasteners does not work. The other one is in good working order and makes it possible to close the case safety, making sure it does not open in transit. The case is made of solid with a fine rosewood-veneer covering. The veneer and the French-polish finish are well preserved, though at the base we can see some missing parts and flaws. Nevertheless, these details can be easily restored by a good professional. The rosewood veneers covers a solid wooden case, sturdy and in great condition. Rosewood stands out for its gorgeous look, with light-golden brown background and slim intense black veneers. For its good sonority, this wood is commonly used to manufacture musical instruments. As well as preserving the two silvery-metal fasteners, the case that we can see in the images also retains the original carrying handle and the lock. The key is missing, but the lock is in good condition so maybe it could be replicated. The cases bottom side is covered by a black-lacquered finish; its deep dark tone that creates a fine contrast with the light golden wood. Inside, the case remains in wonderful condition. The bottom piece is modeled to create a violin-shaped compartment, perfect to fit and carry the instrument. The whole surface is covered by purple velvet, very well preserved. The lid mounts some fittings bound to hold the arch in its place. As stated before, inside the case there is an antique arch in great condition; there is still place for another. This marvelous antique violin case from the 19th century will be an amazing gift for a musician with a passion for beautiful and authentic objects. Measurements (Inner Compartment): Maximum Width: 21.5 cm. Medium Width: 17 cm. Length: 63 cm.
