Antique marquetry backgammon and checkers-chess set, dated 1950s and in fantastic condition. It is complete, with its checkers and dice. This item is a very special piece, as decorative as useful. The game has an elongated briefcase format: when opened, the inside of the panels are lined with hundreds of tiny marquetry pieces that create the classic backgammon board. On the other hand, if we open the case and turn it upside down, there is a checkerboard at the base for playing chess or checkers. Inside the case is guarded a complete set of checkers, also made of wood with marquetry, and two dice. The marquetry boards combine different types of wood (walnut, mahogany, ebony and lemonwood) with other materials, such as bone. There are also fillets that mix woods stained in bright colors, such as blue or red. The design is magnificent and so is the finish: the set is as beautiful when open as when the case is folded up. Impeccably crafted and with exceptional decorative power, this antique marquetry backgammon and checkers-chess set will stand out on a stylish coffee table or game room.
