Gorgeous antique railway wagon lamp for the inspection of train rails, made in Buenos Aires, Argentina circa 1900. The lamp is complete and shines in all splendor after a wonderful restoration. Aesthetically is a really imposing piece, full of charm and perfect to become part of the decoration of any room. It is made of silvery-metal sheet with no signs of rust or wear, and preserves the original glass lampshades (red at the back and white at the front) with the embossed manufacturers name and in perfect condition. At the lamps base we can see a mark indicating the city it comes from, Buenos Aires. These curious lamps had a double function. They were attached to the front of the wagon so they could use a fixed light; the side wings were intended to hang the lamp. Once the wagon stopped, the operator would unhook the lamp and hold it grabbing the top handle in order to shine light a particular section of rail. Inside the lamps body we find the original burner, also restored. It is not functional as prior to the restoration the metal was rusted; the rust caused several holes at the deposits base which make it impossible to fill it with fuel. Nevertheless, if the owner should wish to use the lamp he or she would just have to change the burner. Another interesting option is to mount electrical wiring; the outcome would be an extraordinary lamp. Beautiful and unique, this antique railway wagon lamp for the inspection of train rails is an exclusive piece with a remarkable decorative potential. Dimensions: Width: 6.6 in / 16.5 cm.
