Fine English tantalus cabinet made of solid oak wood in the 19th century. This small cabinet keeps its three original glass bottles in perfect condition, with no cracks, broken parts or visible flaws. The cabinet itself is also well preserved: the nice oak wood it is made of boasts a fine golden color and its lovely veneer, and the beveled glass which are part of the flip-top covers are also in optimal condition. This article is embellished with nailed brass details to reinforce and adorn it, and keeps its original lock, metal handles and key.The tantalus has two separate parts: the back, decorated with a mirror and with space to store the three liquor bottles, and the front, closed by two flip-top lids made of wood and glass, currently empty and probably designed to store the glasses. This part can be locked with the original key: the lock works like new. All the corners and joints are reinforced with fine brass plates; the metal is slightly worn and its somewhat distressed finish provides the cabinet with even more aesthetic interest. At the top, just in the middle, there is a brass shield-shaped plate attached to the wood. Surely this plate was intended to bear the engraved initials of the drinks cabinets owner. The three bottles are made of thick cut glass with a pattern of beveled squares, while the caps are all crowned by differently decorated balls. The central one is higher and the ball that crowns its cap is adorned with delicately cut hexagons. This small drinks cabinet is an example of the best British design, a first-class article that will surely enhance the most aristocratic homes living room.Measurements: Width: 365 mm.
