Important Antique Capodimonte Porcelain Chest. Naples, Italy, Circa 1800

Important Capodimonte porcelain chest made in Naples, Italy circa 1800 and in amazing condition. This awesome piece is really ancient and shows no hairlines, cracks or flaws, with the colorful decoration wonderfully preserved too. At the base we can see the marks of the city of Naples used between 1771 and 1938, together with the title of the composition, ‘La Bacchante Endormie’ (‘The Sleeping Bacchante’). The embossed and hand-painted decoration is divided in different scene. At the lid we can see the bacchant falling asleep, accompanied and snuggled by a group of naked kids. The circular recipient is adorned with a hand-painted and embossed band in which several kids and a small faun are performing different actions: drawing, playing music… In two scenes we can see lying bacchants, one of them the same depicted in the lid. The edges of the chest and the lid are trimmed with bronze bands with a hinge and a leave-shaped fastener, in great condition.
