Antique Large Capodimonte Porcelain Chest. Naples, Italy, 19th Century, Circa 1860

Gorgeous Capodimonte porcelain chest made in Naples, Italy in the 19th century (circa 1860) and in great condition. The chest shows no flaws at all and stands out for its beauty and big size. The white porcelain is decorated with embossed mythological scenes, painted by hand in great detail and full color and exuding charm and joy. The decoration shows a group of kids and small fauns playing and performing different activities. At the lid we see the same group of kids and fauns surrounding a goat with golden horns and black hair. The group is trying to make the animal cross a river. The chest’s edge is covered with a bronze strap, just like the lid’s: they are connected by a hinge and at the front we can see a delicate scallop-shaped fastener. At the base we can see the marks used between 1830 and 1890 to identify porcelain pieces made in Naples.

This gorgeous Capodimonte porcelain chest is a wonderful piece, as delicate as antique and with an undeniable charm.
