Antique Walking Stick in its Presentation Case and with 18K-Gold Handle. C. 1900
Antique walking stick in its presentation case and with 18K-gold handle, made circa 1900 and in very good condition. This gorgeous set exudes nobility and elegance, being a piece ideal to be exhibited. The stick has a 18K-gold handle with no hallmarks, though it has been acid-tested in order to identify the metal. It is adorned with hand-engraved motifs and bands; at the top we can see a monogram with the letters C and J, probably belonging to the original owner. The metal ferrule is also decorated with two slim cord-shape bands, engraved by hand. The shaft is covered by a fine ebony-like finish in good condition, which makes a lovely contrast with the gold handle. The storing case is also a beautiful piece: it is a solid-mahogany wooden box with marquetry bands embedded in the sides and the lid. It still preserves the original brass corners, as well as two nice animal-shaped locks. Inside it is covered by bone-colored silk, somewhat worn by the trace of time but still entire.
This antique walking stick in its presentation case and with 18K-gold handle will be the starring piece of any collection.
