Excellent antique barograph, in good condition and in working order. This amazing device comes from England where it was made in the early 20th century (circa 1900) except the clock movenet that was made in Switzerland. The barograph stands out for its quality and its beauty: it is a highly decorative as well as a fully functional instrument. This item was made by the prestigious London company Ross Ltd. It boasts the great quality and fine design of the scientific devices manufactured by the firm. The impressive barograph that we can see in the photographs mounts a solid mahogany wooden base with four small legs. The wood is in great condition. The glass protecting case has a wooden structure that supports the transparent glass panes. The mechanism is made of golden brass and silvery metal; at the base of the cylinder with the graph paper roll we can see the inscription SWISS MADE and the serial number 8 314. The mechanism is similar to a clock movement: the company probably bought these components from a Swiss firm and used them to manufacture their instruments. There is a slim wooden piece attached to the mechanism with the engraved inscription ROSS 13/14 GT. CASTLE STREET, LONDON. It is complete, including the key and the clock mechanism is in working conditions. Measurements: Width: 11.8 in / 30 cm. Height: 7.2 in / 18.5 cm.
